McCormick's Bicycle Shop Celebrates 50th Anniversary
McCormick's Bicycle Shop, on the corner of Youmans Avenue and Route 31, is proud to be one of Washington's oldest family-run businesses. In 2005, the shop celebrates 50 years of business. Started in 1955 by Kenneth McCormick, upon his death in 1988, the business was taken over by his son, Alfred, who continues it today.
The bicycle business has remained quite constant over the years. A bike is still an important part of the life of a youngster and receiving a bicycle at Christmas is a very welcome gift. Besides the small bicycles that one first learns to ride on, the20" series is now very popular. This is the type you see around town most often. Mountain bikes for trails or road use and long distance road bikes for the serious rider make up the rest to today's market. McCormick's Bicycle Shop has recently expanded its sales and service area and usually has 50 to 60 bicycles in stock at all times. Brands carried include Jamis, KHS, Freeagent, Redline and Eastern. Accessories are also found in the shop such as helmets, water bottles, seats, and computer speedometers.
McCormick's Bicycle Shop also offers repairs and services on all bicycles.
The shop is open:
4 to 8 on Wednesday,
11 to 8 on Thursday and Friday,
9 to 5 on Saturday. Call them at 908-689-0385.
Congratulation to on of Washington's oldest continuous family-run establishments!
